Arsenal Whittick - An inspirational personal narrative.

Rachael Copelin Irvine - The parent's journey.

Autism is a hidden disability that can affect children and adults in a variety of ways.

Unexpected changes, understanding and relating to other people, and taking part in everyday family, school, work and social life can be difficult. Some autistic people say the world feels overwhelming and they always feel anxious and different.

It can be difficult to find support for children who have autism. Some parents of autistic children say that other people simply think their child is naughty and it can be difficult to access the proper support.

Practitioners who work with autistic clients may need to adapt their approach and understand more about how it feels to be autistic.
  • A 1 day seminar for anyone who would like to know more about Autism from the experiences of those who have made the journey into new understanding and insights. Held at Iron Mill College in Exeter.
  • Lunch and refreshments are provided, as well as a certificate for 6 hours of CPD for attendees.

What our Students Say

"I am glad that I haven't let the opportunity of studying on the Post Qualifying Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents pass me by. I am learning so much and thoroughly enjoying the experience. I now feel entitled to call myself a Children's Therapist.”
Cheryl Powell - PQ Diploma in Counselling Children & Adolescents Student

What our Students Say

“My experience with the iron Mill was the best decision in my life, I would rate the IMI 10/10. I'm not saying it was easy, especially starting a new career at the age of 50, but I got through with a lot of hard work and dedication. Our tutors were an inspiration during the four years. Since I got my Diploma I have been so busy counselling, only last week I was offered another new job, it's amazing.”
Elisabeth Bartlett - Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling Graduate
