Course Details

Resourced with underpinning theory, including easily digestible helpings of neuroscience, you’ll feel prepared to learn from the small group practices.

Wherever you are in terms of exploring sensory and movement phenomena as part of the counselling process, this seminar will nudge your use of body-based interventions in a positive and enabling direction.

By the end of the day, you will have:

  • Considered perspectives that view the mind as a relationally, embodied whole
  • Practically explored Gestalt models for integrating bodywork activities into the counselling process
  • Recognised the importance of grading bodywork
  • Considered how various body-based interventions may help people to think more clearly when they are struggling with psychophysiological arousal
  • Hopefully laid to rest some myths about bodywork
  • Experienced some body-based, self-help techniques from Autogenic Training,
  • EMDR and Energy Psychology
  • Been introduced to the rich range of body-based CPD and training possibilities.

While aimed primarily at trainee counsellors and qualified therapists, this seminar is also suitable for anyone who works in enabling roles such as psychology, mental health, social work, occupational therapy and probation.

What our Students Say

“It achieved a great balance between knowledge of the topic and making this interesting and close to us... the Tutor managed to make {the lecture} understandable to us with day to day examples. At the same time we felt that he was really an expert in the topic. From a HR perspective we were delighted to get so many people participating in the Q&A after the talk, as this is not the usual way our staff behaves.”
Monica Wilson - Tailor-Made Training
